Oh life can be so sweet
It may be tough with things we do
But as a kid I was told
Through thick and thin to keep my head up
Fall down seven get up eight is a great
Saying reminding me I have always been loved

Its always great to be loved
It can be sad but it can be sweet
Love from my parents is also great
How we treat others and the things we do
Can determine whether we are put up
Or down and this is what were told

Since we were young we have been told
That we are loved
But then again being put up
From the saying is not always sweet
The way that society works and what we do
Isn't always great

What some people say is great
But what some people are told
Is not what they do
Because even if they are loved
Their words could be sour or sweet
So that is where their actions rise up

As we grow up
We decide which actions are great
Sour, saddening, wonderful and sweet
Words we are told
Dictate how we feel loved
And what we do

The things that we do
Can bring others up
With our words we can make them feel loved
And great
What they are told
Can make their day oh so sweet

People who are great
Have been told
And started a chain reaction with what is sweet

Ode to the Piano

When kept in tune
you make a beautiful sound.
No matter how old or new
You can always be found.

My parents made me
play when I was young
We bonded for over
five years.

With it always being
A love relationship
We were very keen
together forever.

Not sure why but
I decided to stop playing
I felt like a nut
when I looked at you

I still waned to play
But many years passed
Although I now have found a way
And all it took was sitting down with you

Quicker than I thought
My fingers slid across your keys
Nothing had to be bought
But a reminder of what I love.

#10 Comparision

There are multiple similarities and differences between "Bartleby, The Scrivener " by Herman Melville and "A & P" by John Updike. I'm going to tell you about the role of the boss/manager of how they similar and how they differ.

In both of the stories the boss does not seem like they know how to handle their job to well. In Bartleby, the Scrivener the boss gets really frustrated with Bartleby because he starts to say "I'd prefer not to." That frustrates the boss so bad to the point that he actually yells at Bartleby a few times instead of handling the situation without any raised tempers and harsh feelings. Also for A & P when the manager is talking to the three young ladies he is very rude and blunt about wearing clothes. I believe that he could have handled the situation much better by the way that he talked to the girls instead of being demeaning towards them.

All-though they both approach their co-workers in rude ways they do differ some in the way they still feel about their co-workers. Even though the boss in Bartleby, the Scrivener gets really frustrated with Bartleby, he still cares. The boss still keeps giving Bartleby more and more chances and Bartleby keeps saying "I'd prefer not to." With A & P the way that the manager treats the young girls and the way that he even approaches the situation he does not seem to be understanding at all and is rude right from the beginning. He doesn't even try to understand where the young girls are coming from and doesn't seem like he does or ever will care.

#7 A&P

A&P is a story told by a young boy who is a cashier. With plenty of time on his hands he observes people and finds it entertaining. When three young girls walk through the door, he is unable to keep his eyes off them. The story goes on with the boy describing the girls and watching them. (Well that isn’t creepy!!) With this story being told from a guy’s perspective is raises many concerns from a lady’s point. When I was talking to some of the girls in class they thought that the young boy was very arrogant and rude with the way he talked about the ladies. But here is my thought to all of the extreme feminists about this article. Do you ladies ever find a man attractive, and in the best words I can think of at the moment, “pick and choose” what you do and don’t like about them right from the get go? I know that if a female were to write a story about what she thought about a guy who she just saw I am sure that some of the guy’s reactions would not be nice either. Although when comparing men and women they are obviously very different from the start. What if you were a guy alone walking back to your dorm on campus at night? Hardly any guys would have any problem with that. But you ask women how they feel and almost all would say that they don’t even want to go near campus alone at night because it is creepy or they just feel weird like something is going to happen to them. This partly defines a female identity just in the way we process things differently than men. This pattern of thinking so differently than men may never change.

#6 The Story of an Hour

Mrs. Miller: I was just told by my sister and Richards that my husband just died

Mrs. Miller: So lost on how to feel.....

Mrs. Miller: This room is so lonely

Mrs. Miller: I feel like something is coming but I just don't know what it is!

Mrs. Miller: I feel..... strangely enough... FREE!!!!

Mrs. Miller: From now on I will and always love to live for myself!!!!! =D

Josephine: Hey sis I really need to talk to you.... If you stay in your room forever you will get ill!
           Mrs. Miller: Go away. I am not making myself ill!!

Mrs. Miller: Well I do know that I will NOT need this

#4 Southern Grotesque

When I think about the story “A Hard Man Is Hard to Find” the most southern grotesque character in the story is the grandmother. Right off the bat she makes it known that she doesn’t want to go on this trip by the way she talks about The Misfit. The grandma says “…I wouldn’t take my children in any direction with a criminal like that aloose in it. I couldn’t answer to my conscience if I did.” Although she still goes with the whole family on this trip. The southern grotesque comes from the grandma when she starts talking about the young boy they see on the side of the road and how she pointed out that the boy didn’t have any pants on and that he probably didn’t own any. From this and the way the grandma talks about it you might think that she is racist to a point. You can notice her attitude towards things when the family pulls off to stop at Red Sammy’s and asks the woman who works there if she is ashamed because the young girl just insulted where they work/live. You start to think that the grandmother is changing her mind about the trip when she suggests to stop at a plantation that she visited when she was a young girl. Which this leads to the family to crashing the car and this is when they meet The Misfit. Ironically she is didn’t want to go on this trip because of him and now she meets him because the car crashed. Throughout the whole story the grandmother is rude, inconsiderate, demining, and more. Yet in the end with her family and herself dying, I believe that she “had it coming” because what comes around goes around. Although dying was a little dramatic but what story that we have read for this class hasn’t ended how we thought?

Orientation #5

So to start off this is where we all usually park. This is the door that we go in, although you can go in the front door but the other attorney usually unlocks that door so we don't have to. The first door on your left and the first two doors on your right belong CASA, we do interact with them a little on our CPS cases. The second door on your left is the girl's bathroom and the next door is the men's. Here is the Pepsi machine... it's not much but then again this is a small building. This is our office, and that one is the other attorney that is in this building, we work with her a lot on having mutual clients and conflicts in cases.
So here in the office this is the other secretary's desk, she mostly handles the paperwork. DO NOT try to do something that you think might help because she is almost 66 years old and she has her system of doing things and don't mess with it. Here is your desk, you will mainly answer the phone and do monthly reports. Also you will pull files for the next few up coming days so that when a client calls that we will already have the file pulled and ready for our attorney to talk to them about their case. Here is our semi-rec-room, this desk is for our intern when he comes and helps our attorney. Here is the fridge you can put anything you want in there and you don't have to label it because there isn't that many people who work here.
Just a few more things. When you're looking for any type of supplies like pens, pencil, staples, sticky notes, folders, well any office thing you need, you will find them in these drawers. Also you will find the garbage bags because if you take out our garbage without having to be asked the other secretary really appreciates. You will find juvenile files in these file cabinets, felony files in this drawer, misdemeanor files in this drawer and ones set for trial in these drawers. Lastly, if our attorney or the other secretary asks you to do something, you do it no if, and, or but. If you follow these instructions it will make life much easier here in the office.
